This is a weird bug that seems to have been introduced somewhere around version 1.30. It has only been reported to affect Android users.
Solution:
Clear the App's data
Cause:
The cause is unknown, as a failure to load data from the device's storage usually lead to a Black screen with loading icon that won't go away.
